GREENVILLE — John J. Gangloff has had the kind of career that some chefs may envy.
The Newark resident has cooked for politicians, movie stars, athletes and ambassadors. He’s seared steaks for Meryl Streep, swapped emails with Lidia Bastianich, been scolded by Rex Harrison and hunted down foods for Carol Channing.
But whether Gangloff’s making marinated duck breast with blueberry Madeira sauce for the 180 residents of the exclusive Stonegates retirement community tucked off Kennett Pike, or chatting with Laurence Olivier in a Baltimore hotel as the actor dined on his favorite meal of grilled sanddabs, washed down with a hearty glass of Kentucky bourbon, he treats everyone the same and never tires of his favorite subject.
“Food is my life,” says the 58-year-old chef, who has worked in professional kitchens from Atlantic City, N.J., to Bethel, Maine. (Read More)
